DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Mission Committee of the United Methodist Church of Auburn has selected this year’s Lenten Offering project. We are honoring area health care workers by saying “Thank you!  How much we are in awe of all of you!”

We thought about how we could show them our thanks. While a hug, a full tank of gas, or payment to their day care would have been wonderful, we knew that individually honoring them would be impossible, so we are raising money to support Love Beyond Borders, an interfaith movement to end the pandemic supported by UNICEF.

The Love Beyond Borders campaign aims to raise funds for the equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines around the world. The United Methodist Church is engaged in supporting COVAX alongside UNICEF, the key vaccine delivery partner. All funds raised will be sent to UNICEF through UM Global Ministries for this project. If you would like to learn more about the project, got online to icrinc.org

If the community would like to share in our thanks to our health care workers in a concrete way, you are invited to send a donation to The United Methodist Church of Auburn, 439 Park Ave., Auburn, ME 04210.  Please indicate that it is for Love Beyond Borders in the memo line of your check.

We cannot be more impressed by all our health care workers in what has been a very difficult two years and we will never be able to thank them enough for their truly heroic work. We hope this project to help end the pandemic will honor them all. — Janet, Turner

ANSWER: Thank you for sharing this, Janet. My hope is that the church will receive some substantial donations that will help many.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I know readers are often looking for people to alter or mend their clothing. I found someone in Bowdoinham who is terrific. You can send Katie J. Mooers a  message on Facebook. She does “stitch, fix, and create.” Her number is 212-1587 and she prefers texting if possible. She’s really good — I highly recommend her and checked with her about putting out her info. — No name, no town

ANSWER: That’s great! Sewing is such a great skill to have. I’ll pop that information into the Rolodex.

Whenever readers recommend someone or a business, I do my best to contact them to be sure it’s OK to mention them in the column. Sometimes folks are already too busy or sometimes they’re winding down their working lives and don’t want or need new customers.

I love having good information to share with others and I appreciate all the help readers give me. Remember, I couldn’t do this without you!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a tape from 1988 by Sonja Christiansen on meditating. One side is “Magic Garden” and the other side is “Affirmations Psalm 23.”

The tape has finally died and I love these mediations. I’m wondering if she updated with CDs. I would appreciate any help you can give me. — No name, no town.

ANSWER: Do you have the name of the recording company? That would be helpful in researching this request. Meanwhile, are there any readers who can help?
