The American Kennel Club plans to sponsor a Canine Find it Contest at noon Saturday, March 12, at American Legion Jackson-Silver Post 68, at 595 Gore Road in the village of Lockes Mills.

Twenty-five trained snoopers will attempt to locate a particular object in one of six randomly spaced boxes in a timed event.

Contestants pay $25 for the opportunity to prove that their favorite pooch is the most skilled in ferreting out the hidden object, according to a news release from the post. In the post’s Great Hall the public is invited to observe the trained sleuths for free.

The contest is expected to be completed by 3 p.m.

Information will be available on how one’s own dog can be trained in like manner to find often-mislaid objects like glasses and car keys.

The Unit 68 Auxiliary Canteen sell offer snacks, soft drinks and water.
