Raymond “Ray” Marcel Bussiere

CANTON – Raymond “Ray” Marcel Bussiere, beloved husband of Pauline Elinor Bussiere (Carlin) and much cherished father of four daughters, died peacefully in his sleep March 2, 2022.

Raymond was born Jan. 20, 1941 to Leo and Leonie Bussiere in Lewiston. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1958.

He was in the Le Montagnard band from 1956-1960 where he played the bugle. He served in the National Guard from 1961-1964. He worked for International Paper, Otis division, from 1964-1973. He then worked for General Electric, Auburn from 1973-2002. He retired from General Electric in 2002 after 29 years.

Ray met the love of his life, Pauline “Polly” Carlin when he was 15 and on August 1, 1964 they got married. They have spent almost 58 years together raising four daughters, Carla, Marci, Leisa and Cyndi.

In 2002 they moved to Canton to live out their dream of living on a lake in their retirement years in the house that was built by family and friends just for that purpose.

Ray loved hunting, fishing, cards, TEASING, and many backyard sports (horseshoes, volleyball, softball), and most importantly he loved to WIN…!! Even if that meant cheating in cards. He also loved spending time traveling with family, especially “his girls” and went on many vacations and cruises over the years, engaging in all the activities from horseback riding, to zip lining, and extreme water slides. He enjoyed watching the Red Sox and any sporting event that his grandchildren played.

Ray is survived by his wife, Polly; his four daughters, Carla and her spouse Dan McNally, Marci and her spouse Steve Skillings, Leisa and her former spouse Lonnie Healy, and Cyndi and her spouse Eric Beauchesne; eight grandchildren, Dyana Nichols, Sean McNally, Adam Healy, Shannon McNally, Kyle Skillings, Katy Skillings, Lily Beauchesne and Belle Beauchesne; two great-grandchildren, Elise Nichols and Cara Nichols; a brother, George Bussiere; and a sister, Linda Beaulieu; many loved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers Robert Bussiere and Richard Bussiere.
