AREA — If something were rotten in a particularly beautiful Nordic locale, would a trained Sniffer (AKA Detection) Dog be able to discover that something?

Find out at American Legion Jackson-Silver Post 68, on Saturday, March 12, when the American Kennel Club will sponsor a “Canine Find it Contest”. 25 trained snoopers will attempt to locate a particular object in one of six randomly spaced boxes in a timed event.

Contestants pay $25 for the opportunity to prove that their favorite pooch is the most skilled in ferreting out the hidden object. In the spacious Great Hall of the Post, the public is invited to observe the trained sleuths for free. (How’s that, along with ample free parking, for a great admission price?) Beginning at noon, the contest is expected to be completed by 15:00 hours (3 p.m.).

Information will be available on how your own Fido can be trained in like manner to find those pesky objects you are always mislaying, like glasses and car keys, or whatever else you want located. The Post is located at 595 Gore Road, in Maine’s beauteous village of Locke’s Mills. The Unit 68 Auxiliary Canteen will have available snacks, soft drinks, and water at pre-inflationary moderate prices.
