HEBRON — Residents will consider 57 articles Saturday, including the municipal budget and a new selectman at the annual Town Meeting at the Hebron Station School beginning at 10 a.m.

The budget of about $950,000 is slightly more than last year.

Voters will elect a selectman for a three-year term to succeed longtime Chairman Richard Deans, who is stepping down after 36 years.

Voters will also elect a trustee for Moody Library, a Maine School Administrative District 17 director for a three-year term and a road commissioner for a one-year term. Voters will also choose a pair of Budget Committee members.

The largest budget requests include $224,203.99 for the Town Office, which will allow the office to be open 40 hours per week, $172,835 for care and maintenance of winter roads and $150,000 for paving.

The only item selectmen and the Budget Committee did not agree on is the highway truck reserve account. The board recommends $30,000 for the future purchase of plow trucks, while the Budget Committee recommends no money.

Voters will also be asked to appropriate $52,000 from the firetruck reserve account to purchase a new pickup truck for the fire department.

A proposed change to the land-use ordinance would define an accessory dwelling within a single-family detached dwelling or an accessory building on the same lot and it would be limited to 800 square feet or 50% of the primary dwelling.
