DEAR SUN SPOTS: I know that you have addressed this before, but I didn’t need the information in the past so I didn’t keep it.

I am looking for organizations who want suitcases for foster children. I have three suitcases — a large, a medium and a small with wheels to give to a group who might be able to use them to help someone (it doesn’t have to be children) in need. If you could use one or all of these suitcases, please contact me in Lewiston at boomer1946@roadrunner.com or at 689-4394. Sun Spots, thank you for all the help you give to people in our area. — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: I have some calls in to organizations involved in foster care. Readers, if in the past you have donated luggage to a nonprofit in the past supporting foster children, let me know about the experience.

Meanwhile, I can also suggest you contact Spurwink at 1-888-889-3903.

An Angel’s Wing Inc. at 1567 Lisbon St. in Lewiston at 241-0624. An Angel’s Wing Inc. is actively raising awareness as well as providing funds to help individuals suffering with Substance Use Disorder and their families.

Another nonprofit is Kaydenz Kitchen Food Pantry at 155 Lisbon St., also in Lewiston at 577-7942. The thrift shop supports the food pantry that addresses hunger needs in the community.

Safe Voices in Auburn is a nonprofit that helps individuals who are victims of domestic abuse. The organization is the sole provider of support services for victims of domestic violence in Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties. Call 795-6744.

Catholic Charities in Portland is another option as they help immigrant families get settled here in Maine. The number is 781-8550. Ask to speak with someone in the development office.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you know where we could dispose of old pine logs from a tree we had taken down a few years ago? The logs are short in length but are too big in diameter to go to the public works area for branches. Burning them on our property is not an option. — No name, no town

ANSWER: I’m putting this out into Sun Spots Land to see if anyone could use this wood for outdoor campfires. It has been sitting for a while but it could still be useful in that way. If so, please send me your contact information and I’ll get the two of you in touch. Of course, if you have any ideas of where it can be hauled to in the area, let me know.

You could also rent a wood chipper and use the chips around your yard and garden.

Another idea is to call a local landscape company to ask if they will take those logs away. I know The Dump Guys will take it away for between $75 and $200 depending on how much wood there is. The number is 450-5858 and they are fantastic. I’ve used their services many times.

O’ Brien Property Services is another choice. The number is 615-6584.
