Abbie M. Maheux

AUBURN – Abbie M. Maheux, 98, of Lewiston, died peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin with her loving family by her side following a short illness.

She was born in Guilford on March 25, 1923, the daughter of the late Frank and Eva (Gagnon) Michaud and had been a resident of this community for most of her life.

She was married to her soulmate, Leo L. Maheux, whom she met while he served in with the U.S. Army in World War II. They got married on May 9, 1946; and he died on July 23, 2008.

She was employed for 40 years at Bates Manufacturing as a folder and as an inspector. After her retirement she worked at Bourque’s Market for five years.

Abbie enjoyed dining out with family and friends. She loved doing puzzles, word search and latch hooking. Most of all Abbie loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality of Holy Family Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Doris Morin of Lewiston; a granddaughter, Michelle Racine and her husband Michael of Lewiston; four great-granddaughters, Abbie Howe of Lewiston, Sydnie Racine of Biddeford, Bernadette Racine of Norway, and Cecelia Racine of Lewiston, and two great-grandsons, Cody Howe and his companion Maddie of Hollis and Patric Racine and his wife Amy of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and a special dear friend, Florine Marquis of Lewiston.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Pauline Marie; two sisters, Yvonne Roy and Irene Gamache; and a brother, Lawrence Michaud.

A Funeral Mass honoring Abbie’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 23 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Committal services will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Pinette Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, 784-4023. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed at http://www.lynchbrothers.com.
