Karen Ellis

RUMFORD – Karen Ellis, 64, died Wednesday March 30, 2022 at the Rumford Hospital. She resided on Granite Street in Mexico.

Born in Rumford on May 18, 1957, she was a daughter of Calvin P. and Mary S. (Hutchins) Lyons. Karen was a graduate of Mexico High School class of 1975 and the University of Maine at Farmington class of 1979 with a B.S. in Education. She worked as a Special Education Teacher and then for NewPage Paper Mill in Rumford in the Analytical Lab until her retirement.

She was a member of the Eagles Aux, Snowshoe Club, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed acrylic painting and spending time with her family.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Sara Kaply and husband Lenny of North Berwick, and Michelle Cayer of Mexico; granddaughters Kyanah Wing and Lillian Kaply; a brother, Stephen Lyons and wife Lynnea of Columbia, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday April 7 at the Meader and Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford. Interment will be later in the spring in the Farrington Morton Cemetery in Mexico. Friends and family are invited to call at the funeral home 12-2 p.m. on Thursday.
