Anita Pelletier Boucher

ROSLYN, N.Y. – Anita Pelletier Boucher was born on Dec. 19, 1924 in St. Hilaire, New Brunswick. She was the daughter of Prudent and Alma Pelletier, and their sixth of 18 children. On August 3, 1943, she married the love of her life, Alfred Boucher. They enjoyed 77 years together and raised four children. Even though she loved her life in the states, she always longed for her native country, where she vacationed every year. When in Canada, she would excitedly visit as many friends and family members as she possibly could, and she was known to passionately dance the night away.At home, she had an open door policy, where everyone was welcomed with open arms and a warm meal. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even as they—and she—grew older, she always had chocolate chip cookies ready for them to devour. Many afternoons were spent around the kitchen table, eating cookies and telling stories. She is survived by her four children, Donald (Gisele), Shirley (Sal), Dick (Linda), and Sandy and her partner, Jeff. She is also leaving eight grandchildren, Jamie (Julie), Pamela, Travis (Jenner), Nicole, Jody (Maura), Melissa (Mark), Shannon (Bob), and Sunsearae (Danny). Lastly, she leaves 12 great-grandchildren, Hunter (Taylor), Haydon, Jenna, Jalee, Audrey, Greta, Grace, Mathew, Michael, Taylor, Jordan, and Derrick; one brother Lucien Pelletier and wife Connie and four sisters Cora Pelletier, Jeannine Dube, Gaetane Nadeau and Corinne Ouellette. Anita was predeceased in 2020 by her husband of 77 years, Alfred Boucher. For many years, she diligently recorded and documented, in pictures, the life of every member of her immediate and extended family. This labor of love is demonstrated in many detailed journals, which include photos and writings about her and her husband’s daily life, as well as the goings-on of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.She lived with her family for the last few years, and in December of 2021, at 97 years old, she attended her first great-grandson’s wedding and danced with her first-born son. It was here, and with him, that she danced her Last Dance.
