The Maine Children’s Scholarship Fund is accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year.
The scholarships are for students in kindergarten through 12th grade for tuition for public or private school, or toward homeschooling expenses, according to a news release from the scholarship fund program, based in Bangor.
The scholarship pays 75% of tuition up to $1,400 for public or private school or $500 toward homeschooling expenses.
Scholarships are awarded to families whose income is within the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program income guidelines.
The fund’s board of directors plans to award 100 scholarships for the upcoming school year.
The application deadline is Saturday, April 30. Scholarships will awarded by random drawing in June.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
