Carlene P. Lemieux

AUBURN – Carlene P. Lemieux, 72, unexpectedly passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022 peacefully at her home in Auburn where she lived with her high school sweetheart and husband of 54 years, Denis L. Lemieux. She was born Jan. 19, 1950 in Lewiston, the daughter of John Arthur II and Venise (Levesque) Perreault.

As newlyweds, she and Denis moved to Louisiana to pursue their educations. She worked for many years as a legal secretary for Skelton, Taintor, & Abbott in Lewiston/Auburn, then for a short time at St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railroad before she proudly joined and eventually retired from the administration team at St. Joseph’s College in Standish.

Carlene by nature was a loving caregiver within the community and touched so many lives along the way with her kindness and generosity. She was passionate about making sure others were warm, clothed and fed. She would generously give to those in need around her by cooking, sewing, knitting and shopping. She cared deeply for her family and especially her grandchildren for whom she was endlessly proud of and spoke of often. She was an avid reader, well-known for reading a book a day. She was a master at all puzzles from her daily crossword and Sudoku to the thousand piece jigsaws often in-progress on her table. She will always be remembered for her signature Cajun & French cooking, especially her Shrimp Gumbo and Shepherd’s Pie.

She is survived by her loving husband Denis L. Lemieux; two daughters Danielle Pereira and husband John, and Nicole Wilkinson; grandchildren Peter, Abigail, Sophia and Madeline; three siblings Glen, John Arthur III and Sheila Perreault; several nieces, nephews, and beloved cousins, especially the ‘California Cousins’ where no miles kept them from being ‘sisters’.

Carlene was predeceased by her parents; brother Randy Perreault; and beloved niece Brandi Perreault.

Visitation will be held 1-3 p.m. Sunday, April 10 with a 3 p.m. Service following at The Fortin Group, 217 Turner Street in Auburn.

Online condolences may be shared with her family at http://www.thefortingroupauburn.com.
