Johnathan Morin

AUBURN — A Lewiston High School sophomore is due to benefit from an auction scheduled next month.

Fontaine Family — The Real Estate Leader will host its eighth annual Bid For Wishes virtual auction on its Facebook business page (facebook.com/FontaineTeam) between May 16-23.

Along with Make-A-Wish Maine, this year’s auction will also benefit student Johnathan Morin.

Morin first started experiencing pain in his leg last summer. When he collapsed in pain at school in early November, family members brought him to the emergency room, according to a Fontaine Family news release.

After multiple appointments with local doctors, Morin was referred to Boston Children’s Hospital. He and his family got the news that he was officially diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in his pelvis and lungs, which is inoperable due to its location. The treatment plan includes 14 cycles of chemotherapy, with radiation beginning halfway through receiving treatment at The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland.

Morin, given the nickname “Rocket” by former hockey teammates and coaches, hopes to go to Hawaii for a vacation with his family after his journey is complete and he’s feeling better.

Since 2009, starting with Walk for Wishes, each year the entire Fontaine Family Team participates in its largest fundraiser benefiting Make-A-Wish Maine. It has raised enough money to grant the wishes of nine seriously ill Maine children. In 2013, Fontaine expanded its efforts by creating Bid for Wishes, its online virtual auction collecting donated items from local business owners.

Fontaine’s 2021 event was the biggest yet, auctioning nearly 300 items and raising over $20,000. Half went to a Lewiston High student, Emersyn Rowles, for her dream trip, and the other half to a Make-A-Wish child in Durham. The team goal is to grant two wishes again this year.

People may donate auction items on Fontaine Family – The Real Estate Leader’s Facebook page. Businesses can be promoted while helping grant wishes of a local teen and another seriously ill Maine child.

Contact Fontaine to donate: 784-3800 in Auburn or 289-3830 in Scarborough or info@fontaineteam.com.

Bids will be accepted starting at noon May 16, and all bidding will end at noon May 23. People may donate by mailing or leaving a check at Fontaine: Fontaine Family – The Real Estate Leader, 336 Center St., Auburn, ME 04210, attn: Bid For Wishes 2022.
