100 Years Ago: 1922
Springlake Camps in Kingfield have been sold by J.H. Carville to J. Pierpont Morgan of New York. The camp was purchased for his office force who spent last summer there. Mr. Carville will continue in charge of the camps.
50 Years Ago: 1972
The children from Lake Street and Merrill Hill Schools in Auburn presented a variety musical program Thursday evening at the gymnasium for their parents and friends. The hour-long program was under the direction of Miss Sandy Simpson, elementary musical director. Mrs. Rose Mottram was the accompanist. Each grade, kindergarten through sixth, sang a song which the children themselves selected. Principal Ronald Logan presided.
25 Years Ago: 1997
Don’s AG staff recently presented local lawyer Paul Mills with a strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting in celebration of Mills’ birthday. The store honored Mills because he eats lunch there every day, cashier Janet White said. Kathy Millett, baked the cake. Mills declined to reveal his age, “l can remember when President Eisenhower came to town in ‘55. That should tell you something,” he said.
