Leona M. McLain

AUBURN – Leona M. McLain, 88, of Auburn, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Clover Manor Health Care Facility with her loving husband by her side. She was born in Lewiston, Maine on July 12, 1933 the daughter of the late James and Matilda (Hart) Melvin and had been a resident of this community all of her life. She was educated in Lewiston schools and was a graduate of Lewiston High School class of 1951. She then graduated with a bachelor’s degree from University of Maine in Farmington in 1955. Throughout her life she taught schools in Auburn and in Gardiner. Leona had a great love for animals. She is survived by her husband Roland McLain whom she married on Feb. 20, 1960, of Auburn; three sons, Scott McLain and his wife Michelle of Aurora, Colorado, Jeffrey McLain and his wife Kathy of Westbrook and Troy McLain of Falmouth; one brother Daniel Melvin and wife Elizabeth of Lewiston; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Nancy Tessier. Funeral services honoring Leona’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11 a.m., at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home. Committal services will follow later in the Spring at Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 6-7 p.m., only at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston 784-4023.
