Motorists on the Greene Road Sunday afternoon were occupied part of the whole trip in watching the efforts of a big touring car to extricate itself from the mire near Spear’s Dancehall. The driver had attempted to turn his car at that point, but ran too far off the macadam road and soon sank to the hub. The road was good as far as the Greene depot, where there is a very bad stretch of about 50 feet. The run to Danville Junction is good and it was filled with cars all day Sunday, many being new models out for a first spin.

A friend (Edith Labbie) writes to us from her country place near Bethel: “We just had a thrilling experience. It is 7:30 am and John (her husband) stuck his head in the door and said “Come, quick, the geese are coming.” As I slipped through our snow tunnel path, I could hear the barking at a distance. As we reached an open spot there, they came over the mountain sort of scrambled up and were honking signals to each other. As we watched the old leader get into place and he went into perfect formation headed for Rangeley, I counted 45 of them. What does it matter that the snow is all around, the geese know, snow is one of the wonders of the world for there is no open water here except for mountain brooks.
