DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a sofa, chair, and ottoman to give away. Everything is in good condition, has no stains, and has been in a pet-free home. Goodwill and Salvation Army are not taking furniture at this time.  I reached out to Maine Immigration Services and Habitat Restore but haven’t heard back from them.  Does anyone have any suggestions? –Cathy in Lewiston

ANSWER: Have you tried a local church or children’s center? They may have a need for the furniture or perhaps they know of a family who could use it.

Catholic Charities in Portland may also be able to help you place the furniture with a family. Contact them at 781-8550 or info@CCMaine.
