Raymond Paul LeBlanc
LIVERMORE – Raymond Paul LeBlanc, 89, passed away April 23, 2022, one month short of his 90th birthday.
Raymond was born on May 22, 1932, at home in Canton to Alyre and Quieta (St. Onge) LeBlanc. He graduated from Mexico High School in the class of 1949. He had many occupations which included working in the woods, ice cutting on Canton Lake, cucumber farming, raising broiler hens for a Canton summer camp, and a milkman at Sanitary Dairy where he met his wife, Louise. They were married just shy of 59 years before her passing on Aug. 1, 2017. He worked his way up from bagger to manager (Rumford and Livermore Falls) and eventually District Supervisor at Sampson’s Supermarkets, now called Hannaford. He modeled hard work and responsibility and influenced many young workers. He flipped over 40 houses throughout the years doing most of the work himself with his children. After retiring he hand fed, and raised and sold many birds from parakeets, canaries to a variety of parrots.
He found and established The Central Maine Pigeon Flyers and was a member for over 30 years. He wrote a book on pigeon racing and was very involved in the sport. He and his son, Paul, won the Sixth New England Classic 500-mile pigeon race which was a first for someone from this area.
He loved his family and enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing and spending time with them.
He is survived by his son, Dale LeBlanc of Jay, his daughter Donna Landry and her husband Ken of Livermore where he resided the last five years; six grandchildren, Justin (Nancy) LeBlanc, Jacob (Stephanie) Landry, Aubray (Nate) Futera, Anna (Steven) Howe, Elizabeth and Rose LeBlanc. He also has six great-grandchildren, Cadence and Kallee LeBlanc, Declan and Sebastian Landry, Eloise Rae and Poppy Futera. He is also survived by in-laws, Joe (Shirley) Dubord, Maurice (Nancy) Dubord, Andy (Elaine) Dubord, and Anne Duguay.
He was predeceased by his wife, Louise; his son Paul; his parents; his brothers and their wives, Alfred (Rose) LeBlanc, and Rene (Geraldine) LeBlanc; brothers-in-law, Norman, Frank, Lionel, Rene Dubord and sisters-in-law, Pauline Guerin, Jean Shanty, Claire Castonguay and Lucille Dubord.
A private burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
