Some of this year’s hardy, enthusiastic, and inspiring volunteers getting a jump start on Otisfield’s Roadside Clean-Up Day are (l-r) Meara, Toren, and Ronan Bielby. They are assisted by their dog, Barry Barkilow. This year the Conservation Committee is sponsoring an in-person clean-up.

OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Conservation Committee has scheduled a clean-up of town roads for Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The rain date is Saturday, May 14, same time.

It has been three years since the last organized clean-up, and there is a lot of trash on the side of the roads.

Volunteers should wear boots and gloves, and put on bug spray, as the sides of the roads may still be wet.

Trash bags, water, and plastic gloves will be provided by the town.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the Otisfield Community Hall on Route 121.

If anyone wants to clean up their own road that day, please do and then join the group for lunch. Members of the Otisfield Social Outreach Committee (Community Lunch Group) will be feeding the volunteers lunch at the Community Hall after the clean-up. Please let organizers know if you will be joining us for lunch to ensure that there is enough food.

If you’re planning to help — or eat — email Maureen Mooney-Howard at jimandmoe@gmail.com. Also, please let organizers know if you are able to bring a pickup truck that day to transport trash to the Casco Bulky Waste and the Otisfield Transfer Station.
