Dawn A. Barker

LEEDS – Dawn A. Barker, 86, a resident of Leeds, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, in Leeds, surrounded by her loving family. Her family remembers her as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was born Jan. 4, 1936 in Lewiston, the daughter of Walter R. Trider and Alma (McNear) Trider. She was educated in the Lewiston schools and graduated from Leavitt Institute, class of 1954. She also attended a beautician school in Bangor and graduated in 1955. On June 18, 1955 in Leeds, she married Charles Barker.

Dawn was a member of the Eastern Star, Turner Grange, and the Leeds Community Church. She enjoyed her faith, family gatherings, Bible study, writing, horses and traveling.

She is survived by her former husband, Charles Barker of 50 years; three daughters, Barbara Roberts and husband Eric of Leeds, Heidi Barker and her companion, Stewart Macintosh of Leeds, Betsy Cheney and husband Kevin of Midlothian, Va., two sons, Thomas Barker and wife Carole of Livermore Falls, Bradford Barker and wife Pam of Leeds, daughter-in-law, Debra Barnard; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, David Trider of Leeds; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Timothy Barker; and a sister, Shirley Gage.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 21 at the Leeds Community Church, 123 Church Hill Rd., Leeds. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Route 219, Leeds. Arrangements by the BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main St., Monmouth.
