Mary Ellen Lawlor

AUBURN – Mary Ellen Lawlor, 88, passed away on Thursday May 19, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital with her daughter Heidi, and her granddaughters, April Belanger, and Tori Snowdeal by her side.Born on March 26, 1934, in Wayne, she was the daughter of Arthur and Alma (Haley) Cheetham. Educated in Auburn schools, she graduated from Edward Little in 1952. Mary met and fell in love with James L. Lawlor II, they married on July 8th, 1952 and enjoyed 66 years together before his passing on Oct. 31, 2018. She raise her family as a military wife for 27 years, travelled extensively while doing so, including three trips to Germany.She became very active in the V.F.W. post #1603 and The Order of the Eastern Star. Mary loved to sew, knit, and enjoyed her green thumb by growing plants. Her love knew no bounds for her family, she made all of her children’s dolls clothes and even made specialty cakes for her grandchildren. When she found her down time, she indulged in her guilty pleasure… soap oprahs.Mary is survived by her daughters, Ellen and her husband Stephen Broas of Auburn, Heidi and Brian McIntosh of Poland, her sons, Donald and Pam Lawlor of Poland, Ronald and Diane Lawlor of Poland, James III and Teri Lawlor of Auburn, her 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.Mary was predeceased by her husband, her daughter and shining star, Julieanna Lawlor, her sisters, Eva Johnson, Patricia Duval, and her dog Ulysis.Visitation for Mary will be on Thursday the 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service beginning at 1 p.m., at The Fortin Group in Auburn, 217 Turner St. Burial will take place on Wednesday June 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Gracelawn Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Julieanna L.
