NORWAY — Staff and volunteers from Western Foothills Land Trust plan to host a morning of nature observations from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 29, at North Pond Bog.

Those who attend may spy nesting ospreys, red-winged blackbirds, cedar waxwings, flycatchers and springbok plants from a kayak or canoe, according to a news release from the trust.

Participants will meet at the North Pond boat launch located on Round the Pond Road. The pond spans 273 acres, with a maximum depth of 10 feet, and average depth of six feet.

North Pond supports a warm fishery with nine different species present. Bordered by a large wetland complex, the pond predominantly hosts largemouth bass, white perch and chain pickerel fish species.

Registration is required for this free program. To sign up, email the trust at info@wfltmaine.org.
