AUBURN — Maine Calling, a live, call-in radio program, is scheduled to host the Maine Humanities Read ME 2022 Program kickoff at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, on Maine Public Radio, according to a news release from Auburn Public Library.
The library has chosen the non-fiction selection, “Sigh, Gone: A Misfits Memoir of Great Books, Punk Rock, and the Fight to Fit In” by Phuc Tran, as its summer read. Books will be available for pickup at the reference desk anytime after Wednesday, June 8, at 49 Spring St.

The book discussion will be held in person at 4 p.m. Monday, July 11, in the library’s Androscoggin Community Room.
The author talk with Tran will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, via Zoom.
Read ME is a statewide summer reading program offered by the Maine Humanities Council and Maine State Library that gets Maine’s adults all reading the same books. Each year a well-known Maine author recommends two titles by lesser-known Maine authors with libraries and their patrons participating in a summer of reading and discussing the featured books. The 2022 featured books, recommended by Christina Baker Kline, are “Beneficence” by Meredith Hall and “Sigh, Gone.”
The Maine Humanities Council is a statewide nonprofit that uses books, poetry and big ideas to bring people together to discuss issues of importance. The council programs and grants encourage critical thinking and conversations across social, economic, and cultural boundaries.
The library also has copies of this summer’s fiction selection, “Beneficence,” available for checkout. The author talk by Hall will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug.25.
