A disheartening feature of the epidemic of mass shootings is how often we now hear people say, “it’s hopeless, there’s nothing we can do.”
I feel that way about the U.S. Congress right now. Without term limits, we are stuck with a Congress made up of too many people who collect our tax dollars while they fundraise for their next election and preen before the media.
Maine can keep this kind of senseless tragedy from happening here. We all must be more willing to speak out about those who pose a risk to themselves and the rest of us, instead of waiting for someone to act.
And we can elect legislators and governors who have the moral courage to pass sensible measures to regulate gun ownership.
