LIVERMORE FALLS — On Sunday, June 5, First Baptist Church welcomed Rev. Russ Thayer and his wife, Carol into the Church Family. In the absence of a Pastor, the congregation has enjoyed a variety of loving and caring preachers before hiring Rev. Thayer as the Interim, until a permanent Pastor/Minister is found.
Rev. Thayer began his ministry on Sunday, June 5. He is an imposing presence in the pulpit and has a dynamic, impressive delivery of his message! His sermon was titled “Communion Attitude”, and was based on scripture from I Corinthians 11:23 – 34. He urged the congregation to think of Communion as a life-changing experience, a covenant of love with God. Communion is an opportunity given to us by Jesus, an opportunity to re-commit our lives to Jesus.
Hymns for the service were: According To Thy Gracious Word, Here, O My Lord, I See Thee Face To Face, Let Us Break Bread Together, and In Remembrance. Special music was played by Maggie and Margaret: Praise the Lord With the Sound of Trumpet.
Music for the service was provided by Maggie Houlihan – organist, Margaret Emery-pianist, and Kay King -Watson – Song Leader. The next Men’s Breakfast will be at the church on Saturday, June 11. The second Summer Festival will take place in the church parking area on July 16th, more information will be given in July. The nest Soap ‘n More Store will take place on June 25th. Our next Hymn Sing will take place on Sunday, June 26 at 7 p.m. First Baptist Worship Service takes place every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome!
