A few years back, when folks were starting to pay attention to the environment and forming committees to protect it, I recall a commercial that began to appear randomly on television.

This commercial portrayed a Native American in full dress, standing on a mountain looking out over his native land that had become a mecca of condominiums, shopping malls and major highways. The Native stood tall, a single tear running down his cheek. I wonder if others remember this.

The other day my husband and I took a ride around Lake Auburn as we often do, and I marveled at the beauty of this pristine lake that is the water supply for our Twin Cities. The shoreline covered in beautiful landscape of many species of trees, a single fisherman in his boat, peace.

It suddenly dawned on me what some developers are trying to do to this beautiful gift that has been given to us, and I felt a tear running down my cheek.

That being said, citizens should sign those petitions, gather support and protect Lake Auburn.
