100 Years Ago: 1922

The BPW Club will meet Monday evening at the YW parlors and those who plan to take supper at 6:30 are asked to notify the Y before noon on Monday. Miss Hannah Leader, chief telephone operator at the N.E. District office here will be the speaker on the working of the telephone.

50 Years Ago: 1972

A. Brown’s Crossing Road resident reported to Auburn police today that two of his cows have been bitten by a fox. Harold Burnham told police the incident took place this morning when a fox started chasing his cows around his pasture. Police were attempting to contact the game warden to check out the matter.

25 Years Ago: 1997

A children’s musical, “Nic at Night,” based on the life of Nicodemus, will be presented by the Bean’s Corner Baptist Church in Jay, June 15 at 6 pm. Written by Kathy Hill, the play is in three acts and focuses on the Pharisees who became converted and became a follower of Jesus. The play has 23 cast members and another dozen helping with production costuming, cast and props, music and other support. The Rev. Roger Nause is the director assisted by Kelley Sturtevant. For a long time, the children of the church have wanted to produce a musical and share Christ, Nause said. they are very excited about doing one. The play is open to the public at no charge.
