Thomas D. Bennett
AUBURN – Thomas D. Bennett of Auburn died peacefully Saturday morning, June 11, 2022. Tom was born to Charles D. and Helen Stephens Bennett on April 20, 1931.
In 1956 Tom married Doris Washburn and they had two children, Donna and Steve. Doris passed in 2003 after 47 years of marriage.
Tom remarried in 2005 to Shirley Guptil. They enjoyed visiting with neighbors on their front porch on Western View Avenue.
Tom enjoyed league bowling, playing cribbage with friends, and hunting and fishing. Among some of his fondest memories were summer days spent in Lincoln on the Big Narrows at his son’s camp.
Tom is survived by his daughter Donna and her husband David Walter, his son Steve and wife Marsha; and three granddaughters, Bethany (Walter) Ward, Lauren Bennett and fiancé Drew Wilson, Audrey (Bennett) Smith and husband Mike; his wife Shirley and her children Robert Guptil and Janet Guptil. He is also survived by a brother Eugene Bennett and his wife Jean.
He was predeceased by a brother Charles “Don” Bennett Jr. and a sister Elaine Currie.
Tom’s family would like to thank Schooner Estates, Schooner Memory Care, and Androscoggin Home Health Care and Hospice for the loving care of their father.
A graveside committal ceremony is being planned for family. May his memory be eternal.
