Effie Mae “Babe” Thurlow
POLAND – Effie Mae “Babe” Thurlow passed away peacefully, June 13, 2022, at her home of 57 years in Poland, with her husband George Thurlow Sr., married 69 years, by her side along with her nine children, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.She was born Jan. 22, 1933. In her life she enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights with her husband and friends at The Brown Bag. She enjoyed listening to bluegrass and country music. She looked forward to going camping every weekend with groups of family and friends and always her grandchildren. As much as she loved her own children, she truly enjoyed having her grandchildren at anytime. Each year Babe looked forward to the Fryeburg Fair where she spent time with family and friends. She worked at the shoe factory in Auburn in her youth and later at the United States postal service in Poland and New Gloucester.Babe had an infectious laugh and could brighten anyone’s day. She thrived on her family bond and big family gatherings each holiday. Babe was known for making her homemade meatballs for any type of gathering. Babe was an amazing wife, mom, grandmother, and friend. You would always see George and Babe holding hands showing their love to everyone. Funeral service will be Friday, June 17, 11 a.m., at the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 26 W. Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls Maine, followed by graveside service at Pine Grove Cemetery, Brown Road, Poland.
