Saturday, Jul 2 at 4:00 pm at Church of the Good Shepherd in Rangeley, Robert Ludwig will present the Thirteenth Stars and Stripes Concert. These hour-long popular concerts feature performances of a varied program of classical, popular, and patriotic music on the church’s Allen organ and always conclude with an inspiring patriotic sing-a-long honoring the various branches of the Armed Forces and the United States. The annual concert series began in 2008, but was not held in 2020 or 2021 because of COVID.

This year’s program will include some selections played on harpsichord, one honoring Queen Elizabeth I of England and one by Francis Hopkinson, who was born in Philadelphia in 1737 and was a member of the Continental Congress and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The concert will also include pieces by J.S. Bach, Ukrainian composer Myroslav Skoryk, Vermont composer Charles Callahan, and a piece performed at Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953. The concert is free, but donations will be gratefully received to benefit World Central Kitchen, an organization providing essential assistance to Ukranians during this difficult time.
