The Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed is offering its Tadpole Patrol program, an educational, hands-on experience aboard the Friends’ 22-foot pontoon boat floating classroom, the OTTER II.

Children and families have four different options to learn about watershed protection and water quality.

The first level is Tadpole Patrol, where children entering grades two through four are introduced to lake ecology, observing wildlife, and learning the basics of water quality testing.

TP-II Lake Science Investigators is for children entering grades four through six, who become science investigators as they observe the lake ecosystem, conduct water quality tests, and record data in their own keepsake journal.

In the Family Tadpole Patrol and Historical Lake Tour, kids and adults can board the OTTER II for an hour-and-half-long session to observe wildlife, learn and share the human and natural history of the lake, and experience water monitoring with professional equipment.

People can join the Friends on a historical lake tour as they partner with a local historian to explore the natural and human history of Cobbossee Lake or Maranacook Lake during a two-hour session.

For more information about dates and times of the programs and for registration forms, call FOCW Education & Outreach Director Cami Wilbert at 207-395-5239, email cami@watershedfriends.com, or visit watershedfriends.com.
