AUBURN — Four residents of Lewiston are vying for one seat on the Androscoggin County Budget Committee for District 1.

Jason Lavoie, Bret Martel, Alicia Rea and Robert Reed were nominated at a caucus last week for three-year terms.

Each of the seven districts, which are determined by population, are allowed two members, one of which must be a municipal official.

Districts 1 and 2 and part of District 3 are in Lewiston. District 1 is made up of Wards 3, 5 and 7.

Lewiston City Councilor Laurier Pease from Ward 5 will serve on the Budget Committee with one of the four nominees in District 1.

Rea and Reed are former members of the Budget Committee. Rea was the Budget Committee chairwoman last year, when she also served as a city councilor. Reed served on the Lewiston Finance Committee for 12 years and is a former city councilor. While never holding public office, Lavoie and Martel are both active in the community.

The Lewiston City Council will select one of the four at its next scheduled meeting.

Three people are seeking two seats in District 6, which includes part of Auburn, Mechanic Falls and Poland. Poland Selectman Jane Pentheny will face Auburn City Manager Phil Crowell and Auburn resident Gordon Bell.

The City Council in Auburn and selectpersons in Mechanic Falls and Poland will select two of the three.

According to the county charter, “each municipality’s vote shall be weighed” to reflect the district’s total population.

The other nominated Budget Committee members are:

• District 2: Lewiston Ward 1 City Councilor Linda Scott, resident Bridget Silkowski.
