Lucille “Gigi” Girard
LEWISTON – Lucille “Gigi” Girard, 85, beloved mother died Tuesday, June 28, 2022 surrounded by her devoted family.
Born in Lewiston, Oct. 26, 1936, the daughter of Alfred and Regina (Gaudreault) DeRome, she was a lifetime resident of this area and graduated from Saint Dominic High School in 1955.
She married her true love, Don, in 1958. Lucille spent her childhood days growing up on Park Street and had many happy memories playing in Kennedy Park with her brother, sister, and many friends.
She and Don raised five beautiful children. Time spent with family was filled with adventures exploring the Maine that they loved so much.
Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her nine grandchildren. She had a way of making each of them feel uniquely special.
Her love of dancing started at an early age and continued throughout her life. In more recent years, country line dancing was her dance of choice.
Lucille had a giving heart and volunteered her time at the Franco American Heritage Center and administering the Eucharist to the second floor patients at D’Youville Pavillion.
She is survived by her five children, Dr. Mark (Kim) Girard, Julie Girard (Bob), Michelle G. Ferullo, Suzanne (Dwight) Ovelman, Anne-Marie (Greg) Siroonian; her nine grandchildren, Elizabeth and Stephen Girard, Benjamin (Reilly) Burnes, Amelia (Patrick) Copp, Timothy Ferullo, Erin Browne (Brad), Gabrielle, Gregory, and Donia Siroonian; and her great-grandson, Beau Henry Burnes. She is further survived by her sister, Clara Bell; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Don.
A visitation will be held on Friday July 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Fortin Group Funeral Home located at 70 Horton St., Lewiston, the next morning, Saturday July 16, there will be a mass held at Holy Cross Church, 1080 Lisbon St, Lewiston at 10 a.m., with an entombment to follow at St. Peters Cemetery.
