Sharlene Stefani
RUMFORD – Sharlene Stefani died on July 12, 2022 at the Rumford Community Center. A lifetime resident of Dixfield.
She was born on June 21, 1943 in Oxford to Maurice and Maude Pike York. She attended school in Oxford; she was a member of the 4H Club and attended church locally.
Sharlene married Joseph Stefani in 1981 and they made their home in Dixfield. She enjoyed her gardens of flowers and vegetables, crafts, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid quilt maker and taught quilting classes. She belonged to the Grammy’s Choice Quilters. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her meals plus donuts, brownies and zucchini bread.
Joe and Sharlene enjoyed going to their camp on Nicatous Lake in Hancock County where she enjoyed picking berries, making pajamas for the grandkids, fishing, entertaining guests and taking long walks with Joe. Upon their retirement in their travel trailer “They were on the road again!” They spent many winters camping in Arizona where they made many lifelong friends from all over the United States and Canada. While in Arizona they also enjoyed fishing, bingo and potlucks.
Sharlene was predeceased by her parents; her husband Joe; her sister, Ruth Davis, brothers Maurice York Jr. and Raymond York.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Linda Young, Robert Young (Mary Ackley) and Darlene Young, stepdaughters Darlene and Jody; her siblings Robert York, Priscilla Bonneau, Carol York, and Gloria Moore; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; cousins Jean and Helen McKay; along with several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at Chandler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris on July 20 with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. with funeral directly following.
