100 Years Ago: 1922

Miss Francesa Haire of the Community Service playground workers conducted various games and plays in the New Auburn playground yesterday morning from 10 to 11 o’clock. In the afternoon she supervised events of the same nature at the Webster School playground between 2 and 3 o’clock. From 3 to 4, playground workers were instructed in their various duties.

50 Years Ago: 1972

First-place winners of the bicycle derby competitions which were held Friday at the Danville Playground were: Melissa Thurston, bike decorating competition; Mark Cothran, obstacle race; Tom Tand, 10-speed bike race; Henrietta Tripp. three-speed bike race; and Terri Thurston, one-speed bike race.

25 Years Ago: 1997

SoCaMe, a day camp sponsored by the Kennebec Girl Scout Council at Camp Gustin, will host friends, prospective campers and their parents at an open house Saturday between 2 and 4 p.m. SoCaMe will offer 10 days of day camping. from July 21 to Aug.1. Transportation is provided from Auburn, Durham, Greene, Leeds, Lewiston, Lisbon, Lisbon Falls, Mechanic Falls, Minot, Poland, Sabattus and Turner.
