Auburn Water District votes Wednesday approved an agreement with Lewiston calling for cooperation of the Lake Auburn intake and pretreatment facilities at the lake. The board voted unanimously in favor of the agreement after a brief review of the three-page document by Superintendent Normand Lamie, who said it had been reviewed by legal counsel.
Lamie said the intent of the agreement was simple. It essentially puts into words current cooperative efforts between the Lewiston Water Division and Auburn District regarding the shared water intake pipe at Lake Auburn and future cooperative efforts to chemically treat the city’s drinking water.
The parties to the agreement acknowledge it is in their mutual best interest that certain facilities be shared and operated jointly to avoid uneconomical duplications.
