AUBURN — Phoenix No Limits Karate of Auburn hosted the first A/L Valley open tournament Saturday, July 16 at the Central Maine Community College.

Schools from across Maine including, Huard’s Martial Arts School of Winslow, and Maine Isshinryu Karate Academies participated in several events. Those competing took various trophies and medals in Kata (memorized self-defense moves), Weapons Kata, Continuous Kumite (Light contact sparring for two minutes), and Set Self-Defense (Cumulative defense techniques against a repeated attack).

Showcased at the A/L Valley Tournament the Phoenix No Limits Demonstration team. The crowd of over 100 spectators was very enthusiastic as they watched the team illustrate multiple levels of martial arts training, including weapons kata, street self-defense, and advanced board breaking.

Phoenix No Limits Karate is a non-profit martial arts school located at 945 Center St. in Auburn.
