GREENWOOD — The Community Lakes Association dedicated a kiosk to Mike Giunta for all his contributions to the area lakes. The public boat launch now has a kiosk with information about safe boating practices, which will be maintained by the Community Lakes Association.

Giunta was a founding member of the Community Lakes Association, which covers the lakes within Greenwood and Woodstock. He had an abiding love for the area’s water resources. He was often at his cottage on Round Pond, constantly on the lookout for any invasive water plants like milfoil. Not only was Mike interested in our lakes, but their family’s land contains the Woodstock Spring on Route 26. The spring has provided many people with pure drinking water for their camp, everyday use, in times of drought, or just passing by to get a cool refreshing drink. There are always people at the spring filling up multiple jugs of water on a regular basis. The spring is one of
the few remaining roadside springs in the state of Maine.
