Alberta G. Fisher

AUBURN – Alberta “Vava” Gertrude Fisher, 90, a resident of Auburn, passed away with family members by her side Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the Androscoggin Hospice House. Alberta will be best remembered for her love of knitting and sewing, spending time with her cats, and being around her family. Alberta will always be known for her love of Elvis and old-fashioned reruns of her favorite TV shows.

She was born on Sept. 23, 1931, in Litchfield, the daughter of Albert Mason and Ella Mason. She attended Lewiston High School, graduating in 1959 and she later attended Mansfield Beauty School and achieved her license in Cosmetology. She also attended Mid-State Business School. Alberta began her career at the Sun Journal working as an inserter eventually working her way up to weekend and night receptionist and worked there 25 years until her retirement. She was very dedicated to her job and became deeply fond of her co-workers, over her many years that she spent at the Sun Journal.

Alberta is survived by her four children; George Fisher of Lewiston, Pamela Fisher of Sabattus,Mike Fisher of Lewiston, and Cindy Langelier and husband Rudy Langelier of Leeds; her grandchildren, Monica Laplante and husband David Laplante, Michael Fisher, Christian Brown, Jason Fisher and wife Paige, Jamie-Rae Brown, Cassidy Allaire and husband Joshua Allaire, and Randi-Anne Langelier; along with her great-grandchildren Emma-Lee and Rudy-James Allaire.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband George Fisher, and her siblings, Ora Wiley, Elmer Mason, Evelyn Mason Bergeron, Roy Mason and wife Edith Mason, and Gertrude Mason.
