Mildred “Milly” Damon Newton

BUCKFIELD – Mildred “Milly” Damon Newton, 94, of Buckfield, gained her angel wings peacefully on July 18, 2022 at 7 p.m. surrounded by her family at Market Square Nursing Home.

Milly never knew a stranger and always had a hug for everyone. She was always ready for a game of Yahtzee, Uno and Skip-Bo. She loved her garden and her favorite chore was weeding the garden; making bread and butter pickles; picking blueberries up to camp, scratcher tickets and eating breakfast most mornings with her sisters and friends at the Buckfield Mall; crocheting blankets for everyone she loved, also, anyone else that she could share them with.

She was strong and independent. She worked at Paris Manufacturing building toboggans and retired from Pioneer Plastics. She spent many years caring for her many nieces and nephews.

Milly was predeceased by her parents Wilson & Hazel Damon; her husband, Leonard Newton; sisters Lillian Morris, Gladys Newbegin and Betty Atkinson, brothers Norman Damon, George Damon, Richard Damon and Stanley Damon who was killed in WWII.

She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Gesner of Buckfield; son, Wilbur and Jim and wife Mary of Buckfield; her grandson, Daniel and wife Kristina of Buckfield, her granddaughter Deanna and her husband Shane Mozingo of Virginia Beach, Va.; her great-grandchildren David Newton, Karynna Mozingo, Brandon Newton, Alayna Mozingo, Grace Mozingo, Alexus Newton, Robert Newton, and Victoria Newton; also, many other family members that she loved so dearly.

A graveside service will be held at 1.p.m. on August 27 at the Damon Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life for Mildred Damon Newton at the Masonic Lodge.
