DEAR SUN SPOTS: At the beginning of the summer, there was a phone number for someone who mows lawns. I thought I had arrangements made, but the person isn’t showing up when I need him to. Can you reprint the person’s information? I hope he has time for my small yard. — Doris, Lewiston

ANSWER: I hope this works out for you. Todd Duval has a small business where smaller lawns and landscaping is his niche. References are available upon request and his contact information is t.d.duval@gmail.com, 207-440-4833.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I was at a local ice cream stand the other day and heard someone order a “black and white sundae.” The teenager taking the order had no idea what that was and neither do I! I think the lady ordering it started to describe it but I couldn’t hear what she was saying from my car. My friend said, “Let’s ask Sun Spots!” So here we are. — Ginny and Claire, no town

ANSWER: I haven’t had one of those black and whites in years … and now I want one! The sundae consists of one big scoop of vanilla ice cream and one big scoop of chocolate ice cream side by side. Pour hot fudge over the vanilla ice cream and marshmallow sauce over the chocolate ice cream then add whipped cream, nuts and a cherry. Serve this with a black and white cookie on the side if you really want to go crazy.

While we’re on the subject of sundaes, here are the instructions for a “black and tan.” Use two scoops of vanilla ice cream or one scoop of vanilla and one scoop of coffee ice cream. Hot fudge and caramel sauces are then slathered over all before those flourishes of whipped cream, nuts and a cherry are added. Now I bet you have a craving for ice cream! Am I right?
