PARIS — Republicans in the towns of Paris, West Paris, Woodstock, and Sumner are encouraged to attend an organizational meeting at the town office in Woodstock on Thursday, July 28. House District 79 is brand new and was created due to redistricting. Redistricting occurs every ten years in coordination with the Census to redraw the lines for legislative districts to reflect changes in population.
“During the Primary, I met a lot of motivated Republicans in the towns that make up District 79. I think that we need an opportunity to all get together and get to know each other,” said Representative John Andrews, who won the Republican Primary on June 14. “This meeting is to get people together to meet and greet and talk about shared interests and make plans to move forward towards the election this Fall. We must be organized to get out the vote.”
Any Republican or person who is interested in learning more about the party and its platform is encouraged to attend the meeting! The Woodstock Republicans meet the last Thursday of every month at the town office and are very happy to host this event. Pizza and refreshments will be provided. Those interested in learning more or signing up for emails can find more information at www.district79gop.com.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
