LEWISTON — A burst water main has closed Lisbon Street in the area of the Interstate 95 ramp Saturday morning after the road sustained heavy damage. It is unclear how long before water would be restored to area residents.

At approximately 8 a.m., repair crews with the water and sewer division arrived to repair the large scale break, which resulted in significant flooding and damage to the road, said Derrick St. Laurent, public information officer for the Lewiston Police Department.

The police department plans to release an update on the status of the road and water access for affected residents, according to a post on the Lewiston Police Department’s Facebook page.
