Pulpit Rock Trail Blazah’s ATV Club plans to hold its 11th annual Allies for Autism benefit ride on Saturday, Aug. 13.

The event begins with registration from 8 to 10 a.m. at the club’s Park & Ride event location, which the club calls Pumpkin Patch Park — by GPS it is 927 Valley Road in Waterford. As a reference, look for Melby’s Eatery.

Once people register and pick up their first envelope they can hit the trail. The route is well marked for this event and signed as “EVENT,” and is usually between 30 to 34 miles of trails and takes a few hours, according to a news release from Linda Mercer, club president.

There are four pails on the trail throughout the course. People will stop at the pails for their envelopes to bring them back unopened to the registration table for club members to open and record them. People start returning around 11:30 a.m. The cooking begins once first riders come in.

The Ultimate Country II band is scheduled to perform this year. The goal is for everyone to be back no later than 1:30 p.m., when prizes will be drawn. Anyone from from out of state or province can ride in this event without being registered in Maine as long as they are registered in their own state or province.

All proceeds will go to Pine Tree Camp in Rome for Autism. The club has raised more than $35,000 so far; last year was its best ever, having raised $9,050.

No ATV is required to participate; people can come in and bring a chair. The event will include a fire pit, 50/50 raffle, T-shirt sales, Chinese Auction and food. The event is handicap accessible and portable toilets will be on site.
