The volunteers are preparing about 300 donated backpacks of school supplies that will be handed out during the Lewiston Public Schools summer outreach event Thursday at the former Gov. James B. Longley Elementary School on Birch Street from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Information about the upcoming school year, food, balloon animals, face painting and a touch-a-truck event will be held during the back-to-school gathering.
