Brenda Rosemond (Durrell) Calden

PERU – Brenda Rosemond (Durrell) Calden, 73, passed away on Aug. 18, 2022.

Brenda was the daughter of the late Richmond Lyle Durrell and Hazel May Durrell, born Oct. 6, 1948. She attended Peru Elementary School and Dirigo High School, graduated from cosmetology school in Brewer in July 1969, and attended college at the Rumford/Mexico center and graduated in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in mental health and human services.

Brenda was a member of the Peru Baptist Church, substituted in the area schools, babysat many children, and worked as a caregiver in her last few years of life.

Brenda had horses for many years and enjoyed people and socializing. Brenda enjoyed campfires, cribbage and snacks with her best friends, Lucille Small and Jackie Pelletier and painting classes with Yvonne Allen on Tuesdays.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Tim Calden, who she was married to for 46 years; her son, John Calden and his wife Roxanne Calden of Clearwater, Fla., her four stepchildren, Dennis, Ronnie, Rickie and Cathy Calden; her grandson, John Lyle Calden, his fiancé Ashley Payne and their children Stella, Mason, and Carter, of Dixfield; a granddaughter, Lauren Bradley, her husband James Bradley and their daughters Lydia and Madison Bradley, of Peru; a goddaughter, Abigail Shaw of New Gloucester; and a sister Cindy Haines of Peru.

A service will be held at the Peru Baptist Church on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. with a celebration of life to follow at her home in Peru.
