Lucas Savoy of Cumberland digs in Saturday at the start of the 5-mile recreational Androscoggin River Canoe Race in Rumford. This year’s race was held in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Clean Water Act. A 10-mile race and a 5-mile race both started and ended at the Route 2 boat launch and saw canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards travel downstream and then upstream back to the start.
