Patricia C. Higgins
LEWISTON – Patricia C. Higgins, 76, formally of Leeds, passed away Aug. 27, 2022, at the St. Mary’s D ’Youville Pavilion following several years of declining health.
She was born in Potsdam, N.Y., Aug. 25, 1946, the daughter of William and Eva (Gadway) Carr.
She moved to Maine, along with her mother and five siblings, in the summer of 1960. She attended Lisbon High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She met her future husband and lifelong love Michael C. Higgins during her high school years. They married Feb. 1, 1969, and moved to Paris, Maine, where they had the first of two daughters. After several short stays in Sanford and Greene, Maine, they moved to Leeds where they raised their family and had lived together for the last 45 years. In total Patricia and Michael had been together for 60 years. Michael always referred to Patricia as his “shining star”.
Patricia loved people and helping them. Her quote from her high school yearbook explained her outlook on life, “After the verb,” to love “ “ to help “is the most beautiful verb in the world”! She had a lifelong career in sales, most recently at Republic Jewelry of Auburn where she was loved by her customers and co-workers. She also spent a majority of her time helping with the Kora Temple in Lewiston alongside her husband who is a longtime member. Patricia was also a member of the Androscoggin Shrine Club and the Turkey Gobblah Hillbilly Clan.
Patricia loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them, especially at her Mother’s and Stepfather’s camp on Flying Pond in Mt. Vernon, Maine. She and her husband loved to travel to places such as Hawaii, Yellowstone National Park and numerous trips to the Caribbean. Patricia was also a caring and loving mother and grandmother who was dearly loved.
She is survived by her husband Michael C. Higgins of Leeds and her two daughters, Mrs. Bradford (Sharon) Pattershall of Freeport and Mrs. Patrick (Cheryl) Gregorich of Nantucket; two granddaughters Sofia and Isla Pattershall of Freeport. She is also survived by one sister, Connie Sorcek of Auburn and three brothers, William Carr and his wife Jane of Winthrop, Terry Carr and his wife Bonnie Jo of Auburn and Ronald Carr and his wife Deanna of Sabattus. She also had many nieces and nephews that she loved.
She was predeceased by her mother Eva Carr, her father William Carr, her stepfather Roland Letourneau, her brother Robert Carr and her niece Melissa Carr.
The family wishes to thank Nancy Gove and her dedicated Staff at St Mary’s D’ Youville Pavilion for the wonderful care they gave Patricia during her last weeks.
Visitation, Thursday, Sept. 1, at Crosman Funeral Home in Lisbon 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral is Friday September 2nd at 11 a.m., at Crosman as well.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Maine Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association or the Androscoggin Humane Society.
