DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to draw up a new will. I realize that almost any law office is equipped to do this, however I would like to hear from another reader who has had a good experience and was charged a reasonable rate. I had a will done a number of years ago, but need to make some changes. — No name, Auburn

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We are looking for someone to officiate at our wedding in December at our home. The ceremony will be small and personal with just family present. I know we could pick out someone from a listing online or contact a notary public but we would like Sun Spots recommendations and wish to tailor it so it’s a special day. — Cheryl and Gus, Turner

ANSWER: I don’t blame either of you for wanting some personal recommendations for the delicate task of updating your will or for your wedding ceremony. This is what Sun Spots is for, so readers, please offer some advice and guidance on this topic.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to hear from people in Sun Spots Land who drink mushroom coffee. It sounds weird to me and I do like my regular morning coffee but the caffeine seems to be increasing anxious feelings and I’m interested in the benefits of the mushroom coffee. I have read up on it and there are several choices. I thought it would be interesting to hear from other readers who have been using it for a while, what brand they use, and is there a place to buy it in the L-A area. I know it’s pricey. — Jen, no town

ANSWER: I have been curious about this “coffee” as well. I have a friend out of state who has been drinking it for a while and she posts on her social media page that she feels better overall after lowering her caffeine intake. The brand of mushroom coffee she likes is Ryze (https://www.ryzesuperfoods.com/).  This  brand contains Cordyceps, Lion’s mane, reishi, shiitake, turkey tail, king trumpet, organic MCT oil, organic Arabica coffee.

This does not taste like coffee, but I was told it’s easy to get used to. Some online brands offer plenty of customer reviews to peruse and have a money-back guarantee of some sort if it turns out to not be to your liking. You can add any (hopefully somewhat healthy) creamer and sweetener that you like to make it taste more familiar to you. My friend adds oat milk and maple syrup to her morning cup.

There have been studies that show that adaptogens, like the mushrooms in mushroom coffee, level out the amount of cortisol in your blood and saliva. So this drink could potentially give you a hand in managing stress and it may ease inflammation. The compounds in mushrooms have plenty of anti-inflammatory agents. None of these claims are cast in stone though and you may want to check with your doctor before drinking mushroom coffee if you have health concerns and/or are taking medication.

Readers, please weigh in on mushroom coffee if you have tried it.
