Ina R. Asselin
LEWISTON – Ina R. Asselin, 74, a resident Jay, passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. She was born Jan. 6, 1948, in Farmington, the daughter of Merton Harris and Vere (Batchelder) Harris. She graduated from Stratton High School and received her associate degree from Central Maine Technical College in Auburn. On June 2, 1967, she married Walter C. Asselin. They enjoyed 38 years together before his passing on Jan. 25, 2006. Through the years Ina worked at Bass Shoe, Livermore Falls Shoe and Falcon Shoe Company. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters in Stratton and the Amvets Post 33 Auxiliary in Jay. She enjoyed Diamond Dot, crafts, hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Schmidt of Buckfield and Cheryl Schmidt and husband Corey of Fayette, her stepdaughter, Bonnie Chassie and husband Tom of Mexico, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Walter, stepson, George Legere, twin daughters, Mary and Marie Asselin and her brother Leo Harris. Messages of condolence may be sent to: http://www.finleyfuneralhome.com.
Funeral service will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, September 2, at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine. Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m., prior to the funeral service. Interment at a later date at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, Maine.
