The second offering from Senior College in the Community is scheduled to feature Jean Potuchek, who will present “Aging, Health, and Happiness.”

This free program, a collaboration between Auburn Public Library and Lewiston Auburn Senior College, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, in the Androscoggin Room at the Auburn library, 49 Spring St.

This program will cover research that consistently shows that elders are more likely to report being happy than those in any other age group. This presentation will look at some of that research, consider why this finding is considered surprising, and explore sources of happiness as people age, according to a news release from the senior college.

A retired sociologist, Potuchek spent most of her teaching career at Gettysburg College, where she was honored with an award for distinguished teaching. She blogs about retirement and aging at stepintofuture.wordpress.com.
